MX Nationals Rd's 7 & 8 Results

Hey all…It’s been a while since my last story as I have had a busy few weeks travelling and racing in Newcastle, NSW and Coolum Qld in the last two rounds of the MX Nationals. My results were acceptable; narrowly missing out on a top 20 finish but the experience was well worth the effort.

Before I get started I want to thank the people that made competing at the MX Nationals possible as without them it would be a huge struggle. The whole crew at Quick-fix Motorcycles for helping with bikes, parts, service and accessories. Jade at Cloud 9 houseboats for his awesome support- if you get the time to go house boating I recommend giving Jade a call as his houseboat is one of the neatest I’ve seen on the Murray River. Smarty for supplying me with Kontrol Faktory YSS Suspension. Lee Redmond for trucking my bike to Perth and back in his Team Transporter. The Munro brothers for their support especially Kane for helping with travel. My amazing girlfriend Tahnee for her endless support. John Perry for his great job with signage and screen printing. Training buddies for letting me tear up their practise tracks. My parents Jo and Kev for always helping. Bill Morrish at RTA Ag Service Ouyen, Jack Pryse the Ripper. Luke and Scott for helping with setting up the website. The guys at Coca-Cola for supplying me with Mount Franklin Water, PowerAde and Mother energy drink for every race. My race day mechanics Pete and Woody, both did a great job. The list goes on and on and I am very grateful of all the support day in day out, it means a lot.

Newcastle Rd.7 (26/7/09)

Newcastle was not so good on paper but I left the track satisfied that I rode my butt off. I finished the half hour motos in 31st and 25th. My starts were pretty ordinary which made the race uphill from the first turn. I fast lay down in moto 1 while running 23rd resulted in me dead last, after a charge once back riding I managed to real in 31st position by the checkers. Moto 2 I was in the back half from the start and as the field of fast riders is so deep I raced hard to finish 25th behind Josh Cachia.

Coolum Rd.8 (2/8/09)

This was the final round of the MX Nationals and what a huge round. Pro Open, Pro Lites, Under 19's, Women and Vets all taking to the rough sand of Coolum. I practiced and qualified on Saturday and struggled to find a groove around the technical circuit and qualified back in 31st which was disappointing but unless you’re riding the track 110% every corner you’re going to get spanked. In the warm up Sunday morning I managed to jump the big 5th gear 120ft double which picked up a good second off my lap time and helped my confidence coming into my races.  I raced hard all day, average starts once again and 22nd, 22nd and 21st were my moto results.

I have learnt so much again this year and I feel it’s time get more prepared, train harder, ride harder and hopefully bring home some impressing results in the next 12 months. Anyone that thinks they can help me do so it would be much appreciated.

In two weeks time I will have completed the Victorian Championship and will give you a full report of the series. Ballart Rd.3 (9/8/09) Moe Rd.4 (15/8/09). Until then stay safe...
