Hey everyone! I have had a few rides since recovering from my busted collarbone and everything is on track. I have competed in the Swan Hill AX/MX 2 Day Open as well as the Rovinvale rounds 3 & 4 of their club championship. Both weekends were pretty laid back and it was good to be back out racing and training again for the upcoming State and National Championships.
We have been fortunate enough to get some good showers of rain lately which makes riding a dirtbike a whole lot more fun. When out training with my mates and riding buddies we are able to follow each other, make passes (while being able to see where you are going) and pressure each other to ride faster as if it was a race day. Although it makes more work having to clean the mud off the bikes, its all worth it!
My first race back over at Swan Hill on the 23/5 went very well with a 2nd in the AX on Saturday and 3rd overall Sunday at the MX. My main competition come from fast Swan Hill Suzuki rider Brenton Keep and Scrievens Racing Honda's Mark Grove. These guys are very well recognised Victorian riders. To battle with them after 6weeks off riding with injury is good for my confidence and gives me some indication of how the next few weeks could pan out; although anything can happen come race day.
On the weekend just gone i made the drive over to Robinvale to compete in rounds 3 & 4 of their club championship. After some hard riding sessions during the week I went to Robinvale still recovering with a few sore muscles to say the least. But thats how it goes and it all pays off in the long run. Saturday I managed to ride to victory in the Lites class and battle my way to the front of allpowers taking out both classes with all wins. I think the bar banging and block passing between myself and Woody (Mildura Motorcycles Kawasaki 450 rider) was as much fun for the crowd as it was for us on the track. After the race we were told that people were up standing on tables watching and having bets on who was going to come away with the win. Good times! On Sunday the Lites racing was similar to Saturday, taking the 3 wins from 3 starts. In the allpowers though it was yet again Swan Hills Brenton Keep (Keepy) out in front. I got shocking starts against the 450's and a lay down on the 1st lap of the 1st moto just added to the slow starts to the 2 races. I managed to pass upto 2nd behind Keepy in both motos but he was too far in front by the time the checkers was waving and I took 2nd in the Allpowers with Woody taking out 3rd. Well done to the Robinvale club who yet again prepared an awesome track and ran a smooth weekend.
This weekend is round 2 of the Victorian Championship at Ballarat, followed by MX Nationals at Murray Bridge. I missed round 1 of the Victorian Championship at Broadford with injury but I plan to ride the remaining 3 rounds (info www.motocyclingvic.com.au). In the MX Nationals I am still holding onto 27th position after missing 3 of the first 4 rounds. Any Info rgarding the MX Nationals can be found at www.ozmotox.com.au or feel free to contact me via email and I will get back to when I can.
Thanks for tuning in and until next time stay safe.
