Surgery 20/4/09

Hey all! On Monday of this week I was in Adelaide for surgery to repair my broken collarbone. A few days recovery and I think I am finally getting over all the drugs and side-effects of an operation. When going to see the specialist in Sportsmed Private I found out that I had actually broke the collarbone into 3 pieces and it would require a plate, screws and to my suprise a bone graft. My specialist, Dr Michael Hayes, was confident that this process was the best option for the short and long term of my riding and I was 100% behind his decision.

Four weeks from the operation date I am due to get back on the bike and ride at full pace. I am confident that the collarbone will heel fully and should not bother me for too much longer once I am back riding. Six weeks off riding and only one week into the season is not at all the start I was hoping for; but thats life and thats racing. I will know at the time if I am able to compete in the next round of the MX Nationals in Toowomba QLD, which is only 3 weeks away. The following round is held at Mackay also in QLD only 1 week later. Time will tell if i am able to ride those rounds.

Before my surgery on Monday I was able to watch a few local races including the Easter Arenacross and round 2 of the Robinvale motocross series. There was good numbers at both events and the racing was well worth watching (actually riding would have been better haha). The Easter Arenacross was dominated by Chase Mosig from Melbourne (Kade's older brother) in the open class and Josh Spanos from the Riverland S.A was the standout rider in the lites class. Nathan Trigg put in another awesome performance on his CRF150 leading the pack yet again. I am unsure of official results. At Robinvale Nathan Trigg was again dominant. However, the seniors saw different riders take the honors. In the lites and allpowers, Swan Hill's Brenton Keep showed everyone his natural ability combined with experience and left the fields racing for second place. In the open class though, any number of riders could have takin the glory. Jason Wood, Carl Woulfe, Dean Charleson, Shane Barret and Sheye Budd all got a sniff at the pointy end. I am unsure of final placings but a good day at the office by all.

To finish off I would like to personally thank my sponsors for the commitment and support:

Kontrol Faktory YSS Suspension, Cloud 9 Houseboats, RTA Ag, Munros Bulk Haulage, Quick-Fix Honda Mildura, Powerade, Mother, Ben Welsh Enterprises, and Redmond Motorsport.

Thanks also to my girlfriend Tahnee, my parents Jo and Kev, as well as Peter Young for all their help and support.
